Most westerners neglect their vitamins and minerals, not to mention nutritional supplements. However, when it comes to skin care, there are a number of vitamins and supplements that you can take to help improve your skin’s appearance. These work through various antioxidant, anti-inflammatory, and detoxification means. Some just make up for deficiency’s in your diet. Either way, one of these might be the “magic pill” you’ve been looking for, anecdotal reports have shown great success with some of these methods.

First on the list: Zinc. Most people are relatively unaware that the majority of American’s and anyone else that eats a “western” diet usually has a zinc deficiency. Zinc is concentrated most in the reproductive organs and in the skin. In the skin, zinc helps protect against bacteria and helps keep pores clear. With a zinc deficiency, you may have severe breakouts and have no idea the cause, just think you have some kind of “incurable” acne problem. This is why people with a zinc deficiency see such dramatic improvements in their acne in only days, because they are making up for a deficiency. Also expect improved levels of testosterone and improved sleep quality when taking zinc.

Another vitamin that is said to have acne fighting properties is vitamin B5 or pantheonic acid. This is known throughout the bodybuilding community, who load up on it to keep the skin clear. Those that take vitamin B5 usually also take vitamin A, vitamin C, and vitamin D. These are all very important in maintaining optimal skin function, which ties into your skin’s appearance.

In my opinion, the best supplement for skin care is omega-3 fatty acids DHA and EPA. These little gems are anti-inflammatory compounds that can cause a dramatic change in the quality of your skin. This is not a quick fix however, because it can take up to 30 days for the fish oil to build up in your system, but once it does it has profound anti-inflammatory properties. Expect much more radiant and “glowing” skin (not shiny or oily, but a healthy radiance). Fish oil is also well known for it’s ability to lower the risk of heart disease. Another great side effect is called nutrient partitioning: taking fish oil causes you to store less fat, burn more fat, and build more muscle (as well as recover from exercise faster).

Finally, I highly recommend antioxidants for general health and skin care in particular. There are lots of free radicals running around in your skin, and these are the eventual cause of the dreaded wrinkle. Many people waste money on expensive anti aging products when simply drinking green tea would be enough. Acai products are also great sources of antioxidants (I don’t recommend buying acai products online though, most are scams). You can also buy green tea and antioxidant capsules, which concentrate the antioxidant EGCG for your benefit.

With all the skin care tips and information today, you might think it’s very confusing! All you want is what is best for your skin. It may be overwhelming for you to try to keep up with the constantly evolving technology.

Skin care tip #1 – your skin is unique. If your best friend uses “the most powerful product,” it may do nothing for you, or you might even have a reaction to it.

Before you consider buying any over-the-counter skin care products, there are a few basic facts about your skin you must know. These include:

Your skin type. It is oily, dry, normal, sensitive, or a combination?

Your skin complexion. Do you have fair skin that burns easily or light to medium that may burn? Or do you have a medium tone that usually tans or a darker complexion the only rarely burns? Or is your complexion so dark that you never burn?

Your skin concerns. Do you want preventative maintenance to avoid premature aging? Do you have a skin problem, such as persistent acne, age spots, melasma or rosacea? You may also have large pores, sun damage, facial wrinkles or fine lines that require special attention. Do you have eye puffiness or under eye bags that will require special care?

Your personal habits. Are you a smoker? Do you spend a lot of time in the sun? Do you take a daily vitamin? Do you consume a well-balanced diet? All these factors will affect how you should care for your skin.

Skin care tip #2 – one of the most essential beauty building blocks is one’s physical health. You should incorporate some simple, but very positive lifestyle habits as: exercise, water drinking and nutritious eating.

Skin care tip #3 – The basic steps to a flawless face consist of two key elements: cleansing and moisturizing on a regular basis.

Beautiful skin is the dream of almost all the people. Both men and women are anxious about the beauty, but more often it is found that women are caring more than men. If you are such a person the first thing you should care must be about the diet, because only healthy body can give you a soft, glowing skin. Whatever thing we eat the result first demonstrate on the skin, some food are very essential for the skin while some other food may cause acne, pimples or any kind of skin disorder. So to get rid off this problem why can’t we avoid those food items which are not apt for the body? By reading this article you will surely have an idea about how to care the skin.

If you are wishing to improve the beauty you should avoid cake, bread, sugar, cereal, full-fat ice cream as they are high glycemic ones, because food that has a high glycemic index can induce acne. Eating lot of vegetables and fruits is a good decision but for advanced benefit you should eat uncooked vegetables. In addition to caring the health if you use a better natural cream it is sure that you will be protected from all the skin allergies or disorders and will provide you a good looking soft skin which everyone wishes to have. But while choosing a cream you should always check the ingredient present in it. If Seabuckthorn oil is there in the product then no need to look more.

Different people suffer from different skin diseases. Some are worrying about the dryness they have on the skin, while some are feeling sad due to severe skin disease such as Rosacea, Acne, Psoriasis etc. Yet now it is known that no treatment has found for curing Rosacea. But in internet you might come across a wide range of skincare products. By seeing the advertisement you will feel those product can cure your disease and gives you clean skin. In fact you should be aware that those products are made from harmful chemicals and are surely throwing you in to great danger. To protect your health from these harms always choose a product whose ingredients are clinically tested by dermatologist.

The only ingredient which is having extensive use in the world is the amazing Seabuckthorn oil which is highly rich in vitamins and minerals. It has many peculiarities as it is extracted from the seabuckthorn seed or fruit which is a natural medicine. It can very easily struggle against wrinkles, dryness and can save you from premature aging. Nowadays it is found that even the dermatologists are asking to use the Seabuckthorn oil for escaping from skin disorders. Now it is your lucky time as Face Doctor developed a Skin care product Face Doctor Beauty Cream by using this surprising oil. Other ingredients in it are Aloe Vera and yeast which are the natural plants that has competent healing property.

Cory Thiarello writing about different skin disorders and skin treatments. Skin treatment from Facedoctor can completely cure off all types of skin disorders and at the same time can supplement your skin with essential nutrients to achieve a glowing skin.

Collagen is a protein of connective tissue in animals. It is the most common protein in mammals, and makes up about a quarter of human protein content. Gelatin is derived from collagen. Collagen can be looked at as body glue – without it we’d literally fall apart.

As the skin ages, collagen destructs over time, leading to a cause of wrinkles. Therefore, for those of us looking to fight the effects of aging on the skin, we need to stimulate our body’s production of collagen. The good news is that there are products on the market which contain ingredients which are well known to enhance the production of collagen. These same products sometimes contain ingredients which help existing collagen from breaking down as well. I know a product that does both (are you surprised?) You’ll want to apply this serum after cleansing, exfoliating and toning and freshening your skin, but before moisturizing.

Collagen is used in various cosmetic surgery procedures, so products with collagen enhancers can be considered a face lift in a bottle.

I was surprised to learn recently that it can be found in a nutritional supplement form which can be added to cereals and soups. Essentially, it helps to put back what nature takes away over time. If you’re curious, http://www.collageena.com/ has videos which show how this works.

Topical vitamin C products help with the production of it. For more information on topical vitamin products, as well as information on various skin care concerns: acne, dry skin, teen skin, etc, I invite you to visit my blog.

Exercise and acne, is there a connection? I am sure you will agree, that is an interesting thought. It is also quite a hotly debated subject.

Well, let us try to find out and see what we come up with. On the one hand, the workout that you have chosen to go through is likely to make your skin sweaty and greasy. Now that would be a perfect setting for acne to develop!

Acne and lifestyle in your hands. On the other hand, if you consider the option of turning into a couch potato with your attention centered on the television set, that does not look like a particularly healthy choice, does it? There has been a fair amount of research to try and establish the effect of exercise on acne. The results of one such study conducted fairly recently seemed to suggest that there could be individual variations in the extent to which acne is affected by exercise.

A study carried out on two groups of participants, one that went through an exercise routine and another that did not, and did not find any significant connection between exercise and breakouts of acne. However, since this is still a disputed subject, you could play safe by ensuring that you minimize the likelihood of developing acne through exercise.

Acne, putting you in a spot? Possibly you have begun to feel that this is a choice between the devil and the deep blue sea if you do not exercise, you have an unhealthy lifestyle; if you do, you run the risk of developing acne because of the very activity that you have taken up to improve your health.

Well, whichever of these theories turns out to be the right one, you can certainly take steps to avoid putting yourself at risk of developing acne. That will not take a whole lot of doing. You just need to follow a few simple rules:

Fight acne keep your hair away from your face. The sweat and grease that is built up after exercise can affect your hair and scalp as well and may run down onto your face. This will be further aggravated by any hair care product you may have used such as hair spray etc.

Take steps to ensure that your hair does not touch your face and neck while you are exercising; this will at least give you a head start in cutting down the chances of developing acne through exercise, if indeed it can happen at all.

Select your exercise equipment carefully because it could give you acne. Try to avoid using exercise equipment that rubs against your skin, as there is some evidence that this kind of friction could encourage acne to develop. Then again, particularly if you are working out in a public place such as a gym, do ensure that the equipment you are using is clean.

In a situation where the same equipment is being used by several people, you are open to the risk of picking up germs left by other people.

Keep your clothing light for workouts unless you want acne. Make sure that the clothes you wear when you are working out are light, loose and comfortable. This again will avert the possibility of friction with the skin and allow the skin to breathe. Tight clothing will cause unnecessary problems, even if it does not actually contribute to your developing acne.

Shower as soon as possible in order reduce the risk of developing acne. Do this for the sake of your own health and well being, but also for the sake of anyone else who may be with you. Keeping your skin clean is surely one of the basic rules you must observe for general well being. Dry your skin carefully after showering and avoid rubbing vigorously

Keep your sportswear and linen clean to stay clear of acne. Remember that you should take care to keep the clothes you use for your workouts clean. This is particularly important in the case of headbands and wristbands, which accumulate a great deal of perspiration. Take care to use clean towels as well.

Use oil free products to treat your acne. If you have chosen to use a sunscreen, make sure it does not have an oil base. That will be one sure way of setting the stage for acne to develop once you have finished your workout, as there will be plenty of grease and perspiration on your skin by then.

Exercise can help your acne. Lastly, exercise can in fact have a positive effect on your acne by cutting down the effects of stress and simply making you feel good. When you build up stress, certain hormones are released into the skin, increasing the likelihood of your developing acne.

So, if you had any doubts, remember that exercise is good for you, and ultimately, it will be good for your acne as well, as long as you observe the basic rules of health and hygiene. If you are an exercise freak and have also broken out with acne, keep plugging away and you will see the difference!!

Can using organic soap really leave you skin moist and soft? From my experience I can say that yes, it does indeed. While I prefer the milk based organic soaps personally, I have many friends that love all organic soaps. The detergent-based soaps tend to leave your skin dry, which can lead to other skin problems.

These natural soaps are mild, they usually contain glycerin mixed with mixed with other natural ingredients such as herbs, milk, honey, oatmeal, algae, essential oils and extracts and natural scents. Many people use organic soaps because they feel it is better for the environment as well as their overall heath.

These soaps are produces for many different types of skin conditions such as acne, dermatitis, skin rashes and other skin problems. They are mild in nature so they are gentle on the skin. Much industrial soap is made with harsh detergents and can leave skin overly dry. These organic and pure soaps leave the skin soft, smooth and clean.

Organic based soaps are not mass-produced by industrial processes. They are hand-made, usually in someone’s home, if not in a home then they by a small soap making business where the soap batches are kept small and pure. The packagings for these soaps are usually made from 100% natural materials. The soap making process and makers are usually proudly printed on the packaging for consumers.

Many of these all natural soaps contains anti-oxidation and anti-aging properties. These soaps contain a host of nutrients and special minerals that are said to have a tissue regeneration effect on the skin. While these organic soaps are not as effective as specially designed skin-care products for wrinkles and anti-aging, they do have the nutrients necessary to maintain a fresh and supple skin. Many women swear by them and use them daily on their face and necks.

Having a neutral PH organic soaps are great to be used by the entire family; it is even gentle enough for a babies skin. The milk based organic soaps are a perfect choice for the entire family to use on a daily basis. Pick up some organic soap for your skin today and feel the difference.

Author: Franchis
Source: articledashboard.com

The organic food and body care product movement is heating up. Every time you go into a food store or other shop these days, you are likely to be barraged by many products claiming to be natural or organic. Many people are interested in using these products because of fears about the level of chemical toxicity building up in our systems today and the realization that it is probably safer to use more natural products. This seems especially important when it comes to both food and body care products because these are absorbed by the body and any harmful chemicals will definitely get into your system. So, if you are among the millions wanting safer alternatives, how do you decipher the packaging on your favorite skin care products to know if they are organic or not?

What makes this issue so confusing is that any skin care product that is made from a natural ingredient can claim to be natural or organic. However, even though the original source of the product may have been natural, many alterations and additions can occur before the product is placed on the shelf. Therefore, your natural product may not be any more natural than any other conventional product- even though the price might be a lot higher.

The word derived is very common when it comes to skin care products, especially when referring to a natural source. For instance, you might find the phrase “derived from all natural sources”, but this doesn’t mean that no other products have been added. One of the ingredients may be from the natural source, but the rest may be conventional ingredients. Therefore, it is very important to determine if the label guarantees that the product is actually organic. You should also check the ingredient label of your skin care product to see if any ingredients look man-made. Overall, most natural ingredients are easily recognizable and easily pronounceable, though this isn’t always true. After all, vitamin A is also called tocopheral and vitamin c is absorbic acid.

Of course, whether you are looking for organic or conventional products, you need to have some idea of what concerns you are trying to address. Relieving acne requires different products than replenishing moisture, and using the wrong product can cause more harm than good. You should be able to find good organic products to help with most of the common skin care concerns, such as aging skin, dry skin, and acne. Many of these products will contain ingredients such as Vitamin A or Vitamin E, which are especially helpful in fighting wrinkles.

Perhaps the best advise for anyone truly interested in finding organic skin care products for their specific needs is to start asking questions at natural product stores, reading about herbs and other natural ingredients and how they can help specific conditions, and checking labels on all products very carefully. Spending just a little time finding out more about what you use on your skin can have big rewards in the end.

Did you know that a recent consumer safety study showed that 4 out of 5 sunscreens on the market contains harmful chemicals? And that up to 70% of sunscreens contained questionable or misleading claims on the bottle? What if the very sunscreen you are putting on your body to protect yourself from cancer contains carcinogenic compounds?

Why Naturopathic Doctors Believe Healthy Skin Care Affects Holistic Medicine

The skin is the largest organ of the human body. The skin not only protects the muscles, ligaments, organs and bones, but also guards the rest of the body from microorganisms, eliminates toxins, insulates the body, regulates temperature, and synthesizes Vitamin D. In order to maintain good health, proper skin care is essential since the health of the skin reflects the health of the body.

Sunshine can be very healthy for our skin, as well as our mood. But what about the dangers that comes along with too much sunshine? Sunburn, skin cancer, wrinkles, premature aging…we’ve all been taught to protect our skin from the harsh rays of the sun or else suffer the consequences. So for the past years, many of us have heeded these warning and have been lathering up, head to toe, with minimum SPF 970 sunscreen to stay safe from the dangers lurking from above.

Avoid Common Allergies and Symptoms of Toxicity with Natural and Organic Skin Care

In today’s modern world many people suffer from sensitivities to the harsh chemicals and preservatives found in lotions, make up, cleansers and other skin care products. Common allergies and symptoms of skin toxicity include acne, excessive dryness, rosacea, rashes, itchiness and more. These kinds of skin problems can be treated with herbal medicine, homeopathy and a body detox program. Naturopathic medical physicians and alternative health practitioners also recommend the use of chemical-free, organic skin care products.

A Naturopathic Doctor’s Opinion on the Importance of Wearing Healthy Sunscreen

The Environmental Working Group (www.EWG.org), the same excellent organization responsible for researching and publishing resources such as The Shopper’s Guide to Organic Produce, has now created The Shopper’s Guide to Sunscreen. EWG has carefully studied more then 1100 sunscreens currently on the market and evaluated the products based on three major criteria:

1. How much protection the sunscreen offers against UVA and UVB rays

2. How quickly the sunscreen breaks down

3. How many toxic ingredients or harsh chemicals it contains.

According to EWG’s study, featured on www.cosmeticdatabase.com, four out of five sunscreens on the market fail to properly protect the skin or contain harmful chemicals. Popular brands such as Banana Boat and Coppertone received poor ratings from EWG, as did brands like Almay and Neutrogena, which are advertised specifically for people with sensitive skin.

Most sunscreens fail to achieve high ratings from EWG for the following reasons:

1. The sunscreen does not provide UVA and UVB protection. (The Sun Protection Factor (SPF) is designed to measure UVB protection only).

2. The sunscreen breaks down too quickly and skin is not protected.

3. The sunscreen contains harsh chemicals that are absorbed into the blood and can lead to other health problems.

Naturopathic doctors and alternative health practitioners are concerned about problems with popular sunscreens because they do not do what they are supposed to: protect the skin from damage or aging.

UVA and UVB Rays

UVB rays, the ones that are considered for an SPF rating, are dangerous because they are absorbed by the superficial layer of skin and can cause sunburn and potentially skin cancer. UVA rays, the ones not considered for SPF, affect the deeper layers of skin but can also cause skin aging and skin cancer. According to the EWG, 7% of sunscreens do not prevent UVA.

Rapid Breakdown and Limited Coverage

Additionally, 44% of analyzed sunscreens experience partial or total breakdown within minutes or hours, which means although the sunscreen offers some protection, the protection is not guaranteed over time.

Naturopathic Medicine Concerns About Sunscreen Chemicals

Naturopathic doctors and other professionals in the holistic health care field have many safety concerns in particular about the chemicals used in sunscreen. Some common ingredients have been linked to hormone disruption and the onset of allergic reactions. In addition there are no safety studies that evaluate the interaction of these chemicals and their effects when combined with many other chemicals we are exposed to in our environment like pesticides, herbicides and plastics.

Questionable Product Claims about Sunscreens

Due to the possible side effects of chemicals it is important to be aware of questionable product claims regarding sunscreen. FDA regulations currently are not complete, therefore there is no oversight about common claims. Statements like “All Day Protection,” “Broad Spectrum Protection,” “Waterproof,” “All Natural,” and “Chemical Free” must be carefully investigated. According to EWG, 70% of the sunscreens studied contained a questionable or misleading claim on the bottle!

The Arabic word, alloeh which means bitter, lends itself to the naming of the Aloe Vera which is a succulent plant filled with a bitter, watery, gel like substance.

It is this filling that gives you a world of organic skin care uses from this plant. Aloe Vera has been utilized at least since the ancient Egyptians in 1500 B.C. The father of modern medicine, Galen, was a believer in the skin restorative qualities of Aloe Vera.

These qualities have inspired many nicknames: burn plant, lily of the desert, medicine plant, plant of immortality, plant of life, and wand of heaven. It is also known as The True Aloe, because it has more healing qualities than any other variety.

For the organic skin care lover, this plant has it all. The multitude of things offered all come from use of the gel found within the leaves. For wounds and burns, Aloe Vera has incredible healing powers as well as natural antibacterial properties and chemicals that work with your immune system.

There is less scarring with fresh Aloe Vera treatment and burns do not blister as much. Inflammation, irritation, and itching are easily relieved by applying this natural skin care treatment, making it great for acne as well as psoriasis and eczema patients (provided they are not allergic to it; test a small area first).

Insect bites are usually very responsive to the healing qualities of the plant and few people show allergies to fresh Aloe Vera gel. Aside from the healing values, you can gain firmness and elasticity through regular use.

You should have your own plant because the medicinal values of the plant are better the earlier you utilize it (whether burn, wound, acne, etc). For instance, application of fresh Aloe Vera gel when you first feel the slight burn and itch of a cold sore coming up often keeps the sore from ever completely forming as long as you reapply as necessary for a day or so.

No matter the claims, no store bought gel compares to the properties of fresh Aloe Vera and it does not work for long after being cut. You may be able to make a cut piece last a day or so by wrapping it well with cellophane and storing in the refrigerator.

The best way to get one is to get a couple of shoots off of a friends plant (a friend who does not use fertilizers or pesticides). If you cannot do that, then you will need to purchase one from a store or nursery. Restore as soon as you get a plant home so that you immediately get it started in an organic state of growth.

This is necessary because Aloe Vera growers use commercial fertilizers and pesticides; these substances are drawn into the plant through the roots and will be applied to your skin.

The plant loves warmth and sunlight; it does not make it through cold temperatures well, but still thrives in northern areas as long as it is kept in plenty of warmth and sunshine (inside with southern exposure). It handles drought but needs some water, so planting in sandy soil and good drainage is a must, especially when potting to keep inside.

It needs less water in the winter, as it is dormant during this time. Always allow the soil to completely dry before you water, soaking during summer months and only giving it about a cup during winter months. Use wide, shallow pots are better able to accommodate the plants natural root system. Create a mixture of 40% organic humus and 60% sand for potting.

This mixture should have an inch or two of gravel beneath it in your pot, which should have a drainage hole in the base. Renew yearly (or as soil begins to look too light) with new humus or sand mixture; you will keep a natural fertilizer in the soil. Outside planting is only recommended in places like Southern Florida where frost is not a worry.

The healing properties of Aloe Vera have been the subject of many studies, both for internal use and topical use. Internal use is controversial, but topical use studies in healing the skin from a variety of attacks tend to show comparable results.

Topical application seems to aid healing time in skin injuries, irritations, and diseases by anywhere from 35% to 55% faster healing. It should be understood, however that many false claims about the plant are being proclaimed. This plant does not cure AIDS, nor does it help heal skin disorders due to radiation or chemotherapy for cancer patients.br
If you are someone who has ever suffered from a skin condition you know how irritating they can be. Many skin problems, such as acne or eczema can drastically affect your appearance and self-confidence, but dont worry because it doesnt have to be that way. There are ways to clear up those skin blemishes and keep your skin shiny and smooth for years to come.

If you have a severe skin condition you should see your local dermatologist for immediate relief, which is often found through prescription skin creams. Once your treatment is complete follow the recommendations below in order to keep your skin clear from outbreaks in the future.

When most people think of a skin care treatment they think of creams and ointments they rub on their skin to get a desired affect. They end up spending tons of money on skin products that are, in most cases, full of harmful chemicals they should not rub on their skin. If you read the ingredients of the skin product you use you can see whether or not the product is safe for your skin.

Your skin is a sponge and absorbs anything that you put onto it. Therefore, you dont want to put anything on your skin you wouldnt eat (or want ingested into your body). The chemicals that are in many skin creams cause much more damage to your body and to your skin in the long-term than they do to help your blemishes.

What Skin Creams Are Safe?

Not all skin creams are bad. Many organic and homemade skin creams are very safe and effective in maintaining shiny, healthy skin. However, even these creams wont help much if you dont try to follow the diet listed below as closely as possible. Your diet health is the most important thing in having healthy skin.

The Diet For Perfect Skin

The easiest thing to remember is whatever you put into your body will show on the outside. If you eat mostly processed food (everything in the aisles at the grocery store) and dont exercise chances are your skin is going to look horrible. One of the ways your body releases toxins is through your skin so if your body is loaded with toxins from following a poor diet you will most likely end up with several recurring skin problems.

On the other hand, if you eat a lot of organic fruits and vegetables, and exercise regularly you should have shiny and radiant skin. Getting significant exercise is a key component to healthy skin because sweating it is your bodys natural way of expelling toxins quickly so they dont get released through your skin slowly as pimples, rashes etc.

Believe it or not, healthy skin really is as simple as diet and exercise. And if you choose to use natural skin creams or make skin treatments at home they are far less expensive than many high end, designer skin creams, which are full of chemicals.br
