Tips For Sensitive Skin Care

Sensitive skin care can be a little bit more demanding than caring for any other type of skin but if you’ve got it you’ve got take care of it properly. Sensitive skin can become red swollen and irritated as a result of using a certain product or environmental conditions.

If your skin is sensitive and is often red, irritated or itchy, you might want to take the time to figure out if it is a certain product that is causing this reaction. If you can narrow it down to a product or products then you can stop using them and hopefully clear up your condition. However, some people just have sensitive skin which needs to be treated with kid gloves.

If you’re trying to eliminate which products are irritating your skin it might not be a simple is just putting something on and seeing the reaction. Due to the nature of sensitive skin it may take hours or it could even take days before the reaction to the product occurs. And it might not necessarily even be a skin care product it could be your laundry detergent, your perfume, your shampoo, your hair spray or even your household cleaning products that are causing skin sensitivity. To make matters even more complicated certain foods and even plants can cause an allergic reaction.

Sensitive skin care can take on many facets and you may even find that you need to do more care for your skin in the winter when it is dry. Sometimes when your skin is sunburned or dried out or in any other way not as healthy as it normally is it will become supersensitive. You might want to see a dermatologist to have your skin evaluated as to the cause of the sensitivity and also they can check to see if you have a skin problems such as rosacea, psoriasis or eczema.

One thing you have to do is be aware of what’s in the products are putting on your skin. Most likely you’ll have to avoid anything that contains alcohol, as well as fragrances, ethanol and propylene glycol. If you’re using a new product you’ll need to spot tested before applying it to your whole face and body. Put a couple of dabs behind your ears for week then if you do not see a reaction try a few dabs besides your eyes for another week. If that turns out okay try using it on your face or body.

Some other aspects of your sensitive skin care routine include doing things that don’t have anything to do with the creams or products you put on your face. Be sure that your pillowcases are 100% cotton instead of using a synthetic material as this can cause irritation. Also be careful about what you use to remove makeup, you want to be sure to use real cotton balls and natural products. Eating a well-balanced diet is important to healthy skin and healthier skin will be less sensitive so be sure that you get lots of fruits and vegetables and avoid processed foods.

Clean your skin gently with warm water and avoid anything that is harsh and too abrasive. Treat your skin kindly and it will treat you kindly in turn by being vibrant and radiant with a healthy glow!
